Candle Burning Tips
- Do not leave a lit candle unattended. Make sure to put it out before leaving the room or before going to bed.
- Do not light a candle next to flammable objects like curtains, blankets, carpets, books, paper documents etc.
- Keep candle away from children and pets. Avoid keeping them on the edge of tables or shelves where children or pets may access them.
- Cut the wick to about 0.5 cm before each use. This allows for steady and correct burning since longer wicks cause fluctuating burning and the production of soot. If the candle is observed to be burning only on one side, you may tip it a little bit to the other side. Do not tip it when it is cooled as this might cause breakage.
- Make sure to burn the candle on a surface that is suitable for temperatures higher than room temperature. Avoid burning the candle upon marble surfaces.
- Keep the candle away from drafts of wind, fans and kitchen appliance hoods above stoves. Gusts of wind may cause uneven burning and may lead to a sudden burst of flames or to the production of soot.
- Never use the light of the candle as a night light. Make sure to put out all candles before going to bed.
- Never put out the candle with water. Water may cause the melted wax to jump out of the jar and/or break the jar itself.
