A Night of Relaxation

We here at Selana Ways have always been fascinated by the myths and legends of old;

we especially seek them out when we need to relax and recharge our weary souls. It is amazing how these stories never cease to offer you more, no matter how many times you read them.

One of our favourite scenes in them is when the gods and goddesses would engage in domestic activities; we especially enjoyed reading about how the nymphs and goddesses draw their baths.

Sometimes it’s the Goddess-Nymph Kalypso who bathes in the crystal clear, shimmering waters of her mythical grotto at the edge of the world; other times, it’s the Goddess of Love herself, Aphrodite, who draws her bath in her gleaming chambers on Olympus.

We here at Selana Ways thought we’d share with you one of our relaxation rituals, inspired by the sense of rejuvenation and relaxation the goddesses themselves felt in the stories.

So, at the end of the day and with our patroness, the glimmering Selana, taking residence in the night sky, the first thing we do is draw a bath.

Our relaxation ritual

  • We like to use whatever bath bombs we are currently obsessed with, so this is completely up to you. However, while there are a lot of amazing bath salts out there, we find that using home ingredients makes for a simple yet accessible and no less invigorating bath experience. In all our experimentation we concluded that using baking soda, with some orange and lemon peels gives the hot water in our tubs an elevated, queenly feel.
  • After about 15-20 minutes in the rejuvenating water, we opt for our coziest home wear; any fluffy pajamas or silk nightgowns will do the trick, depending on our mood.
  • Then we gravitate to our favourite nook in the house, wine or any other beverage in hand, and select the story medium that best fits each night. Sometimes it is a good Romance or Mystery book, other nights it is a movie or an episode of our favourite show.
  • Depending on the night, soft music plays in the background and before relaxing in our favourite chair or lounging on our most comfortable couch, we light one of our scented candles to compliment the ambience of rest and relaxation.

Whatever you do, however, try taking this time for yourself and just have fun with it!
