The cranberry, known as phiggia in Greek, is akin to the more commonly known cranberry and grows in the most unlikely places at the most unlikely of times: in wild forests, during the early winter months November and December.

Interestingly, the ancient Greek epic poet Homer mentions that it was given by the witch-goddess Circe to Odysseus’ men and turned them into swine.
