Endymion

The love story of Endymion and Selene is one that is sure to spark intrigue and curiosity. Ancient accounts do not agree as to who Endymion was; they variously refer to him as a shepherd, prince, and hunter. Endymion became the archetypal being of mystic slumber, a faint smile forever shaping his lips as he dreams of sweet things. It is in this sleeping position that the Moon goddess Selene and our patron here at Selana Ways first saw him. She was so enchanted by him that she descended from the heavens all so she could kiss the sleeping man’s cheeks. Leaving a trail of silver moonlight in her wake, Selene soundlessly makes her way to the cave of Latmos in order to kiss her beloved and lie with him for the duration of the night. We wonder if this is when we humans experience moonless nights. The soft glow that envelops both lovers is that which we chose to enclose in this candle along with the musky scent of Endymion which so stirred the Titaness from her celestial abode.
